Hyundai Launches The Grand i10 Facelift At ₹ 4.58 Lakh
After a long wait, right from the 2016 Paris Motor Show,
we've been waiting for the facelift of the Grand i10 to come to India and now
it's finally here. The much awaited car has been launched at .58 lakh. While we expected the car to be similar to
the one showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, Hyundai India has made it a bit
different in terms of styling.
The front bumper has been revised and so have been the
position of the DRLs. The one showcased at the Paris Motor Show saw the DRLs
being integrated into the front grille, however, the one launched in India sees
the LED DRLs positioned near the fog lamps and according to us it looks pretty
good there.
There are a bunch of changes beside the subtle changes to
the exterior. Hyundai has introduced a brand new colour on the Grand i10 and it
calls it Red Passion. This colour replaces the Wine Red which was available
previously on the car. Colours like Pure White, Twilight Blue, Sleek Silver
have been carried forward from the previous model.

The biggest change however is the feature list and the new
diesel engine. Let's talk about the new diesel engine first. The previous car came
with a 1.1 litre diesel engine good enough for 70 bhp and developing a torque
of 160 Nm. The new diesel engine is a 1.2 litre unit which now puts out 3 bhp
more and so the tally now stands at 73.97 bhp. The torque figures too have gone
up by 30Nm and the figure now stands at 190Nm, and that's to bring up the fuel
efficiency of the car. The fuel efficiency figure stands at xxxx kmpl. The
5-speed manual transmission remains and yes, for those looking for an automatic
in the diesel Grand i10, you'll have to wait for some more time.
There are no changes to the 1.2 litre petrol engine from the
previous Grand i10 and it still is punches out 82 bhp and develops 113.7 Nm of
torque. The petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, while
as in the previous car, there'll be a 4-speed automatic up for grabs on the
Magna variant as an option. On the
safety front, the Grand i10 facelift will come with driver side airbags as part
of standard equipment, while the Sportz and Asta variant come equipped with
dual front airbags. Hyundai has followed the same equipment list as with the
previous car and so features like Bluetooth, USB and even a music system go
missing in both the Era and Magna.
The Sportz and the Asta variants come filled to the brim
with features. The Asta variant now features a 7-inch infotainment system which
replaces the 5-inch unit from the previous car. What the Grand i10 also gets is
Apple Carplay and Android Auto, something that the company first brought out in
the new generation Elantra, followed by the Tucson.
With the new prices the Grand i10 facelift will go up
against the likes of the Nissan Micra Active, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Tata Tiago,
Maruti Suzuki Ignis and even the Ford Figo. With the new face, the Grand i10 is
looks better than before and with the new features is all set to take on the
old as well as new rivals.
