dieticians to now look into food for indian army troops
Few days after a BSF constable,
Tej Bahadur Yadav, uploaded a video on social networking site alleging the
dismal condition of food served to the troops, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on
Wednesday said the government has sent teams of dieticians to map the
situation. "We have also deputed a team of expert dieticians to visit the
posts of security forces located along the borders," Rijiju said. Speaking
to the media during a function organised by the Assam government, Rijiju said,
the troops, their food and comfort is the top priority of the government.
“The government had already
deputed a Brigadier-level officer of the Border Security Force (BSF) and an
Inspector General-level officer to probe the matter,” said the minister. “The
video posted by Jawan Tej Bahadur of 29 Battalion is yet to be verified,”
Rijiju added. The minister also asked the media not to make an issue out
of the uploaded video, as its veracity is yet to be verified.
In the video that went
viral, the BSF jawan, deployed along the India-Pakistan border in Jammu and
Kashmir, had claimed that the higher officers in the armed forces ‘illegally
sell’ the essentials meant for the soldiers in the market.
