Xiaomi Mi 6 to be launched on April 16, 2017
The launch of the upgraded version
of the Mi 5 from the Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi, the Mi 6, is expected to be
on April 16, 2017, according to a Chinese website which claims to have
confirmed the news.
Since Samsung had placed a big
order for the Snapdragon 835, Xiaomi had to release the Mi 5 last year with the
under-clocked Snapdragon 820 chipset. The Mi 6 may suffer a similar fate, and
hence, will be the first smartphone from Xiaomi to run on the underclocked
Snapdragon 835 chipset with an octa-core processor and Adreno 540 GPU. The Xiaomi
Mi 6 is expected to have a 5.2-inch IPS LCD display with a combination of 2.5D
glass and a variant with ceramic body. The display of the Xiaomi Mi 6 will most
likely have a 2560 x 1440 px resolution.
The report on the Chinese website
also suggests that the Mi 6 will be equipped with the same camera as the Sony
Xperia XZ Premium, which has three 1/2.3″ sensors. The camera will support
ultra-high speed video capture at 960 fps. The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be
available in two variants : one will pack 4GB of RAM with 32GB of internal
storage and the other will pack 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage.
Xiaomi will also launch a limited ceramic-construct variant of the Mi 6 which
will pack 6GB of RAM with 128GB of internal storage. The Mi 6 will be launched
with a front-mounted fingerprint sensor, barometer, accelerometer and
gyroscope, among other additional features.
While the two variants with the
glass body are expected to be available for a price of 1999 CNY (approx. Rs.
19600), the availability of the Xiaomi Mi 6 ceramic body variant is expected at
a price of 2500 CNY (approx. Rs. 24500).
